‘American Idol’ Winners: Where Are They Now?

“American Idol” has delivered plenty of star-power over the years. With the swan-song season set to premiere Wednesday, January 6th, there’s no better time to check in on what past winners are up to these days — especially since not everyone who’s won has had the kind of success “Idol” darlings Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have had.

His biggest hit was his single “Sorry 2004.” Studdard also competed on Season 15 of “The Biggest Loser” and lost a total of 119 pounds.

She’s only the second country artist to take home the Best New Artist Grammy in the show’s 54 year history. In her personal life, Underwood began dating now-husband Mike Fisher in 2008. The two got married in the summer of 2010. She gave birth to her first child in February 2015.

After releasing two albums, Hicks started a long-term residency in Las Vegas. He’s currently in the studio working on his first country album.

He returned to the “Idol” stage to perform “Permanent,” a song from which all proceeds went towards brain cancer research. He released an album in September 2015 and is currently on tour.

Caleb Johnson, Season 13 Winner

Since winning in 2014, Caleb Johnson has only released one album. He left Interscope Records in early 2015, hoping to find a label that he felt supported his music. On January 1, 2016, Johnson announced on Twitter that he has a new album coming out later this year.

His first single, “Beautiful Life,” was used as the official anthem for the FIFA 2015 Women’s World Cup. He’s currently signed to Big Machine, along with Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, and Rascal Flatts. He has yet to release a full album, but one is sure to come out shortly.
